What is Replantation Surgery?

“Replantation” refers to the surgical reattachment of a finger, hand, or arm that has been completely cut from a person's body (see Figure 1). The goal of replantation surgery is to give the patient back as much use of the injured area as possible.

What is the success rate of replantation surgery?

Replantation survival rates of 80-90% have been described in selected reports, but outcome is related not only to the success of the microvascular anastomosis, but to the adequacy of bone, tendon, and nerve repairs.
